Sushi Neta

“Neta” is Japanese for “ingredient. Here are some names of the famous/popular neta for nigiri sushi (nigiri sushi is when the base is formed by the sushi chef forming the rice with his hands. “Nigiri” is from the verb “nigiru,”which is “to grab.”) :

Uni (sea urchin) - smooth and creamy with a strong flavor. A high-end ingredient sushi item.

Tamago (egg) - seen as a kid favorite. This is a slab of Japanese-style omelet made with “dashi” (Japanese broth).

Ikura (salmon roe) - Looking at a pile of eggs on rice may not appear appetizing to some, but ikura is one of the most popular types of sushi.

Unagi (grilled eel) - One of my personal favorites. The eel is grilled and then slathered with a special sauce. Usually on the pricey side.

Hamachi (yellowfin) - Usually one of the cheapest menu items. This fish is not overly fishy and has a mild taste.

Sa-mon (salmon) - Probably the most widely loved sushi item in the world.
